In Olsberg-Antfeld, Hochsauerlandkreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, stands Antfeld Castle, a baroque estate with a three-winged layout and light yellow facade, set within an extensive park.

History+

The origins of the present castle date back to the 13th century, when a manor house belonging to the ministerialis family von Antvelde, who served the Counts of Arnsberg, existed on this site. Their possession was first documented in 1259. In the 14th century, the estate passed to the von Berninghusen family. After an inheritance division in 1495, one part of the property remained with a line of the Berninghausen family for about 200 years, while the other part eventually passed to the von Galen family via the von Ovelacker family. Reinhard Caspar von Schade zu Blessenohl succeeded in reuniting the divided properties by acquiring the first half from Dietrich Ludolf von Galen in 1686 and the second half from Johannetta Maria von Berninghausen in 1691.
