The first documented mention of Archshofen Castle dates back to 1267, when it came into the possession of the Teutonic Order. The order sold the complex in 1460. In 1570, a new castle building was erected. Following a fire in 1638, reconstruction took place between 1690 and 1704. In 1949, the east wing had to be demolished due to its dilapidated condition.
