Arenberg Château
In Heverlee, a district of Leuven in Belgium, stands Arenberg Castle, whose origins date back to the 12th century. It is characterized by its traditional Flemish architecture, which combines elements of late Gothic, Renaissance, and Neo-Gothic styles, and today serves as the main building of the Catholic University of Leuven.

The history of Arenberg Castle begins with a fortress that stood on this site in the 12th century, belonging to the Lords of Heverlee. In 1445, the impoverished family was forced to sell the estate to the van Croÿ family from Picardy. Under Guillaume II. de Croÿ, the medieval castle was partially replaced by the current structure. He also founded a monastery on the grounds, which now serves as the campus library. After the death of Duke Charles III.
