Årsta Castle is a historical structure in the municipality of Haninge, near Stockholm.

History+

The origins of Årsta Castle date back to the 13th century, when it served as the seat of the Swedish commandery of the Teutonic Order from Livonia. In 1467, the estate passed into the possession of Erik Axelsson Tott. Around 1660, the castle underwent renovations under Admiral Bjelkenstjerna, with Erik Dahlberg possibly involved as the architect. In the early 19th century, Carl Fredrik Bremer acquired the castle. His daughter, the writer Fredrika Bremer, lived here and in Stockholm.
