In Auerose, a district of Neu Kosenow, lies Auerose Castle, a stately manor house. The building, originally constructed in the Neo-Gothic style and later redesigned, shapes the landscape in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

History+

The history of the Auerose estate dates back to the 18th century, when it passed from the von Schwerin family to the von Borcke family. In 1848/1849, Franz Alexander Friedrich Wilhelm von Borcke commissioned the construction of a manor house in the Neo-Gothic style. At the beginning of the 20th century, specifically in 1902, the building underwent a redesign in the Neo-Baroque style, with a corner tower also being added. After World War II, in 1945, the von Borcke family was expropriated. The manor house subsequently served as living quarters for several families and was inhabited until reunification.
