Babstadt Castle, a comparatively young structure, stands in Bad Rappenau-Babstadt in the Heilbronn district. Built around 1900, its historicist style combines elements from the Renaissance, Baroque, and late Gothic periods.

History+

The origins of the current Babstadt Castle date back to the early 18th century. In 1712, Adolf von Kimming, the then-owner of the locality, had a predecessor building constructed. After the Lords of Gemmingen took possession of Babstadt in 1732, they commissioned Stuttgart architect Carl Weigle between 1898 and 1911 to build the present castle. The Baroque portal of the original building was integrated into the new construction.
