In Carinthia, Austria, Bach Castle is a Renaissance castle that emerged from a medieval ministerialis tower.

History+

The origins of Bach Castle date back to 1192, when a predecessor building, a ministerialis tower, was first documented. In 1433, it was mentioned as “turm ze Pach” in the possession of the Mordax family. After 1569, Hannibal Eghk von Hungersbach took over the estate. In 1596, Christoph Freiherr von Egkh had the old castle converted into the current Renaissance castle. An arcaded walkway between the castle and the farm buildings was added in 1609 under Carl Freiherr von Egkh, who had to leave the country in 1614 as a Protestant. The castle subsequently changed hands several times.
