Badinghagen Castle (Meinerzhagen)

The first documented mention of Badinghagen Castle dates back to 1160, when it was listed as a feudal estate in the Werden Provostry Register. From 1363 onwards, the property was owned by the Badinghagen family. After the extinction of this lineage in 1509, the castle changed hands. It passed through Friedrich von Karthausen and was sold in 1642 to Friedrich von Neuhoff. Three generations later, Conrad Caspar von Nagel, the son of the heiress, became the owner. The castle's current appearance dates back to a construction from the mid-17th century commissioned by Engelbert von Neuhoff and Anna Margarethe von Scheid. A modernization took place in 1902.
