Bahrendorf Castle

Bahrendorf Castle is a castle in Bahrendorf in the Magdeburg Börde. The building was constructed starting in 1908 according to plans by the architect Paul Schultze-Naumburg for the estate owner Hans A. Schaeper. The three-winged building, erected in the Neo-Baroque style, is adorned with classical decorative elements. It is located in the center of the village in an extensive park with two lakes. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed by the communists.
From 1945 to 2002, the building was used as a hospital. Its founding goes back to Walter Lämmerzahl, who managed this district hospital with a capacity of 240 beds until 1976. The original building complex was repeatedly extended with additions that did not match its style. After 2002, a further conversion into a health and care center took place.
