History+

The origins of Barsebäck Castle date back to the 12th century. After the end of the Scanian War, the estate, like many other possessions of the noble Thott family in Scania, was confiscated by the Swedish Crown. In 1743, the Swedish Colonel Gustaf David Hamilton acquired the castle, and his descendants still own it today. The castle's current architectural appearance was shaped by renovations and alterations in 1889 and 1940.
