Basedow Castle

The noble family Hahn, who had been resident in Basedow since the 13th century, had a castle built here in 1467 under Knight Lüdeke III. Hahn. This included a main tower, walls, moats, an outer bailey with two towers, and various interior rooms, and is considered one of Mecklenburg's oldest estate complexes. From 1552, it was transformed in the Renaissance style into a three-story manor house, whose central wing and stair tower are still preserved today. In the 17th century, a new two-story wing was added, which was partly stuccoed in the 18th century.
