Batzenhofen Castle

The origins of the estate date back to 969, when the Canonesses' Collegiate Church of St. Stephan in Augsburg already owned land in Batzenhofen. In 1530, the collegiate church acquired the entire locality after the local noble family died out. Around 1750, the current two-story building with a hip roof was constructed and served as a summer residence. Following the secularization in 1803, the castle was sold by the Electorate of Bavaria and subsequently converted into a brewery with an inn, which operated until 1920.
