Bellikon Castle

Bellikon Castle is on a terrace of the Heitersberg in the Swiss municipality of Bellikon in the canton of Aargau. Its origins date back to the 14th century, when it was built in the 1330s or 1340s by the Zurich family Krieg. Peter Krieg had already acquired initial estates and rights in Bellikon from the Habsburgs in 1314. The family adopted the name “von Bellikon” from 1343 and expanded their possessions in the surrounding area. In 1605, the bailiwick and castle changed hands to a pastor from Seengen, followed by the Schmid family from Uri in 1640. The castle briefly served as a sanatorium in the early 20th century.

Bellikon Castle is located in the municipality of Bellikon in the Baden district of the canton of Aargau, Switzerland, at an elevation of approx. 578 m above sea level.
