In Krakow am See-Bellin in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Bellin Castle stands, a Neo-Baroque hunting lodge. Built in 1912, it forms the center of an extensive estate and now serves as a hotel.

History+

On the site of the present castle, there was once an older moated castle, which was replaced by a Neoclassical manor house in the early 19th century. This manor house, in turn, gave way to the current castle building in 1912. The builder was the Hamburg entrepreneur Henry Brarens Sloman, who had acquired the estate in 1910. After Sloman's death in 1931, he was buried in a specially built mausoleum on the grounds. During World War II, the castle served various purposes, including as accommodation for mountain infantry and as a shelter for Rostock students.
