Bernstadt Castle

Bernstadt Castle was built in 1549 by Georg Besserer, a member of an Ulm patrician family, as a country estate. After the castle was destroyed in 1688, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century. Later, the castle served as a school, kindergarten, and after World War II, housed displaced persons. Today, Bernstadt Castle houses the municipal administration and the local history museum. Particularly noteworthy are two restored stucco ceilings from the years 1720 to 1750.
