In Bernstein, a district of Wunsiedel in Bavaria, a castle complex is situated at approximately 616 meters above sea level. Its origins date back to the 13th century.

History+

The construction of Bernstein Castle is dated around the year 1200. The von Rorer family is documented in 1360 with Peter Rorer. In 1613, the von Sparneck family acquired the estate. After the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War, during which they sought refuge in Wunsiedel, a further expansion of the castle took place in 1648.
