Beuchlitz Castle

The castle's origins date back to 1616, when the Sack family owned the four large estates in Holleben. Later, the Prussian War and Domain Councillor Johann Paul Stecher acquired this property. His youngest son, Johann Christoph von Stecher, had a baroque manor house built on the Unterhof in Beuchlitz during the second quarter of the 18th century, possibly designed by David Schatz. In the 19th century, the building underwent alterations, including the addition of a staircase tower in the courtyard of honor. A notable episode was the marriage of Rudolfine Karoline Wilhelmine von Stecher to Major Hans Christoph von Billerbeck in 1754, commissioned by King Frederick II of Prussia, to transfer assets to Prussia. This marriage produced a son, whose godfather in 1757 was King Frederick II himself.
