Biedenbach Castle
Biedenbach Castle is a castle located in Biedenbach in the market town of Velden an der Vils.
Biedenbach was the seat of a Hofmark of the Landshut family Reykher. Caspar Reykher zu Bidenbach is documented in 1503. Later, the castle came into the possession of the family of the Counts of Freyen Seyboltstorff. For the younger son Georg Carl Anton Alois Adam zu Freyen Seyboltstorff, who served as a priest in Velden, the castle was rebuilt around 1720. Until the end of the 19th century, Biedenbach was the rectory of Velden.
Architectural Description+
The two-story, three-wing complex with hip roofs, main house with altana and bell turret dates from the late 17th century. The expansion took place around 1720, the house chapel with furnishings is located on the first floor. The former stable building with a half-hip roof probably dates from the 18th century; the garden was created around 1920 from the rectory garden, with older trees and the so-called Herrengarten east of the residential building. The enclosure, a wall with pillars and gates, was built around 1910 and was raised after 1945.
