In Bietigheim-Bissingen, on the southwestern edge of the old town near the market square, lies Bietigheim Castle, which combines history with modern use.

History+

The origins of the castle complex date back to 1386, when it was built at the initiative of Antonia Visconti, wife of Count Eberhard III of Württemberg. The original complex included the castle itself, an administrative court, a granary, cellars, and a wine press. Due to lack of space in the administrative court, the New Castle, also known as the Württemberg Administrative Castle, was built in 1506 and subsequently served as the Vogt's residence. This building was expanded to its current size in 1542.
