Bisperode Castle

The origins of the current castle lie in an earlier noble manor that belonged to the noble family of the Lords of Werder. Between 1694 and 1700, Prince-Bishop Hermann Werner von Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht of Paderborn commissioned the construction of the present moated castle on his family's fiefdom. The complex remained in noble possession until 1875 before passing into bourgeois hands. After several changes of ownership, farmer August Voß acquired the estate in 1901. His descendants still manage the estate today and carried out renovation work on the castle between 1979 and 1984.
