A predecessor building is mentioned in 1370, which was built by the Counts of Luxembourg. In 1479 the castle was burned down and rebuilt in 1501. The owners at that time were the Counts of Enscheringen and Nassau. In 1731, ownership changed to the Lords of Blochhausen, who rebuilt the castle in 1757-1764. In 1945 the castle was blown up and rebuilt in 1957-1959.
