Knight Luduvicus de Pochvlise is the first documented reference to a manor house existing here in 1168. The Lords of Bockfließ, last mentioned in 1292, were followed around 1346 by Bertold von Bergau, who, however, only owned two-thirds of the fortress, and then from 1372 by the Lords of Eckartsau.
