Bodendorf Castle
In the Bodendorf district of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt is Bodendorf Castle, a baroque edifice constructed from reddish quarry stone. It dates back to the late 17th century and is an example of regional aristocratic architecture.
History+
The construction of the two-story rectangular building took place towards the end of the 17th century under Daniel Ludolf von der Schulenburg. Around 1800, the castle was expanded with a neoclassical hall on the park side, adorned with wall pilasters and stucco garlands. Between 1910 and 1920, a stair tower was added to the eastern part of the building. After the end of the Second World War, in 1945, the then owners were expropriated by the communist administration.
