Bödigheim Castle, a historic estate in Buchen-Bödigheim, Baden-Württemberg, is an example of the evolution from a defensive structure to a stately castle. It has been closely associated with the Rüdt von Collenberg family for centuries, who still own the property today.

The origins of Bödigheim Castle date back to 1285, when Weiprecht Rüd von Rüdenau received permission to build a castle with a chapel in Bödigheim. This occurred on the site of the present-day castle, after he had donated a portion of the tithes from Gönz to Amorbach Abbey. The newly built castle housed two branches of the family, who subsequently adopted the name “Rüdt von Bödigheim”. In 1595, Hans Rüdt expanded the castle with a barn and in 1598 with another residential building. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was plundered and largely destroyed.
