Bökerhof Castle

Between 1768 and 1771, Bökerhof Castle was built on behalf of Baron Caspar Moritz von Haxthausen. The Hildesheim court architect Anton Went was responsible for the planning and construction of the two-story manor house, which was erected on the foundations of a 15th-century water system. The building is flanked by two tower-like extensions and features roofs covered with Solling sandstone slabs. In the 19th century, Bökerhof became the meeting point of the Bökendorf Romantic Circle, which included Annette von Droste-Hülshoff and the Brothers Grimm.
