Börln Castle
History+
In its current form, the late Baroque castle was built around 1800 on the remains of an old German moated castle. At that time, it belonged to a Mr. Pfister. Even today, a moat surrounding the castle reminds us of its early history. Later, Count von Zech was the owner. He also made structural changes to the castle. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. Afterwards, the building temporarily served various purposes. It was a children's ward, a school, and also a nursing home. In July 2003, Börn Castle was sold to a private investor, Mr. Roderick Hinkel. He is a native of Saxony. The castle will soon be renovated and used privately.
