Bogenhofen Castle

The first documented mention of Bogenhofen dates back to 1438, when Hanns Rohrer and his wife Margarethe sold the property to the Bavarian Chancellor Andreas Loder. In 1451, the seat received manorial freedom from Duke Ludwig of Lower Bavaria. The Loderer family, who later named themselves Pogenhofner after the property, remained owners until 1677. Through inheritance, the castle passed to the Pintzenauer and later through marriage to the Barons von Nothafft. Franz Xaver von Seiboldsdorf acquired the estate and had it rebuilt. After further changes of ownership, including Anton Freiherr Hueber zu Mauern and Philipp Freiherr von Riesenfels, Bogenhofen was acquired in 1831 by Kajetan and Josephine Plaichinger.
