Bogesund Castle

Bogesund Castle, formerly Bogösund is a castle in the town of Vaxholm near Stockholm. Per Brahe the younger (born 1602 in Rydboholm Castle and died in 1680 at Bogesund) inherited in 1630 by his father Abraham Brahe Pedersson a farm with land in Bogesund. Per Brahe built the castle in 1640. The Brahe family owned the castle until the 1739th. When the last owner, Anna Kristina Brahe died at age 22, her husband, Charles Frederick Hamilton inherited the castle. He lived at the castle until his death 1753rd. 1767 heirs sold the property to Friedrich von Rosen. 1774 Friedrich von Rosen sold the castle to Albert of Lantingshausen, a friend of King Gustav III. was. 1770, the castle was renovated.

1863-1867 was the former owner of Baron Nils Albrecht Lantingshausen rebuilt (1811-1868) the castle. 1946, the state expropriated the castle and its lands because of neglect by the former owner of Lieutenant Baron Nils Lantinghausen Höpken (1876-1952). To carry out the expropriation, the government passed a law specifically that was later called lex Bogesund. In 1949 the Castle was declared a monument.

The castle was renovated in 2010-2012 and was able to open in August 2012.
