Brandstatt Castle
Brandstatt Castle is a former noble residence in the Upper Austrian municipality of Pupping (Brandstatt 1) in the Eferding district. The building, dating back to the 14th century, is now used as accommodation.
Brandstatt is recorded in 1371 as a subject property in the Schaunberg Urbar. In the 16th century, it was noble property of the Göschl von Gallham. At that time, it was united with Gstöttenau. Via the Sprinzensteiner, it passed to Peter Christian Praunfalk in 1605. Subsequently, it came into the possession of Count Konrad Balthasar Starhemberg.
Brandstatt today+
On Georg Matthäus Vischer's engraving from 1674, the castle, situated alone on the Danube bank, had a double hipped roof. This has now been replaced by a roof construction covering the entire building. Also, the formerly three-story building has lost a floor. Today, the house is owned by the Webinger family, who operate a guesthouse here.
