A historic noble residence, Brandstatt Castle, is located in the municipality of Pupping in the Eferding district of Upper Austria. Its origins date back to the 14th century and it is now a privately owned estate.

History+

The first documented mention of Brandstatt occurred in 1371, when it was listed as a subject property in the Schaunberger Urbar. In the 16th century, ownership passed to the noble Göschl von Gallham family and was merged with the Gstöttenau estate at that time. In 1605, Brandstatt changed hands to Peter Christian Praunfalk, having previously belonged to the Sprinzensteiners. Later, the castle came into the possession of Count Konrad Balthasar Starhemberg.
