In the Brauna district of the municipality of Schönteichen is Brauna Castle, which today serves as a center for child and youth welfare.

History+

The first documented mention of Brauna, then known as Brunowe, dates back to May 19, 1225, on the occasion of the consecration of the Kamenz parish church. By 1291, Brauna had developed into a manorial seat through feudal grants. By 1404, its status had changed to a knight's seat, which was enfeoffed to Knight Ulrich von Grünrod in 1438.
