Bruck Castle

Around 1320, the Schaunberger family had a manor called Bruck built. A document from 1456 identifies Hanns Vatershaimer as the owner, who bequeathed the estate to his daughter Barbara. Through her marriage to Wolfgang Herleinsperger in 1494, the castle came into the possession of this family, who held it until 1609. Dietmar Schifer and Georg Achaz von Pollheim followed, before it passed to Wolf Jacob Strauß in 1617. In 1646, Bruck was first referred to as a castle. After further changes of ownership, including Johann von Verdenberg and Georg von Kauthen, Georg Graf von Sinzendorf acquired the estate. Under the Sinzendorfs, the Bruck estate was merged with Peuerbach.
