Brunegg Castle (Kreuzlingen)

Around 1300, a predecessor building of the current castle was constructed, which passed into the possession of the Konstanz patrician family Blarer in 1363. In 1565, Thomas Blarer sold the property to Sebastian von Herbstheim. Just twenty-one years later, in 1586, the brothers Kaspar, Hans, and Rupprecht Mayer from Stein am Rhein acquired the castle. After further changes of ownership, including Mathias Rassler and the Lords of Reding, it came into the possession of Obermarchtal Monastery in 1679. The monastery had the dilapidated castle demolished in 1680 and a two-story long building with a chapel erected in its place.
