Bülow Castle

The first documented mention of Bülow dates back to 1262. From 1573, the estate came into the possession of the von Barner family. Between 1742 and 1746, Magnus Friedrich III von Barner had a two-story Baroque manor house built on older foundations. An alliance coat of arms of the von Barner and von Maltzahn families above the entrance suggests a possible earlier construction phase in the 16th or 17th century. In 1842, under Heinrich Franz von Barner, a renovation in the Italian Neo-Renaissance style took place, raising the building by a half-story and adding four corner towers. The interiors were also redesigned with marble, stucco, and inlaid floors. Further alterations between 1880 and 1890 focused on the interior, with the entrance hall being paneled with oak elements. During World War I, the copper roof was replaced with a tar paper roof.
