Buggenhagen Castle

Somewhat hidden, in the beautiful Lassaner Winkel, opposite the island of Usedom, lies Buggenhagen Castle. A classic lime tree avenue leads to the house, and behind it, the park extends to the castle lake.

The core classical building dates from the beginning of the 19th century. However, the history of the Buggenhagen manor goes back to the year 1260. It was owned by the knight Berend von Bughe, who built a castle here.

At the end of the 19th century, the castle was extended by 4 axes and converted into a three-wing complex, of which only the north wing is still completely preserved. During this time, the castle received its tower and the neo-baroque redesign. North of the castle, a small cavalier house is still preserved.

In 1928, the manor was owned by Hans Detlev von Buggenhagen. In 1993, the castle changed hands to private owners, who extensively renovated it until 1995 and opened a hotel with 39 rooms.
