Buldern Castle

The origins of the von Buldern family lie in the Middle Ages, with their ancestral seat at that time located in the center of Buldern village. By the 16th century at the latest, the family seat moved outside the village, to the site of the present-day castle. The estate changed hands several times until it came into the possession of the von Romberg family in the 18th century. In the 1950s, the manor house housed a research center for comparative ethology, where Konrad Lorenz conducted his studies, particularly on geese, until 1961.
