Burgliebenau Castle

Burgliebenau Castle is a former moated castle and later palace in the Burgliebenau (manor) district of the municipality of Schkopau in the Saalekreis (Saxony-Anhalt).
The castle and estate complex, originally founded as a moated castle, was first mentioned in 1356 as being in the possession of the Bishops and Dukes of Merseburg. In the first third of the 16th century, the main building was newly constructed, and in 1687, a reconstruction took place under Duke Christian of Saxony-Merseburg. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists.
The two-story main building with a spiral staircase of the four-sided complex is located in the south, and another single-story wing is in the west. Today, the buildings house apartments.
