Chyše Castle

The origins of Chyše date back to the 12th century, when a princely settlement existed on this site. In the 15th century, a Gothic castle was built on the same spot. This was acquired in 1466 by Burian von Guttenstein, an opponent of King George of Poděbrady, and was conquered and destroyed by the royal army just one year later. Later, Mikuláš Lobkowicz had a Renaissance castle built on the foundations of the former castle, which he sold again in 1579. At the end of the 17th century, under Anna Ludmila Krakovská and her husband Baron Karel Jiří Michna z Vacínova, the castle was rebuilt in the Baroque style.
