In the Thuringian landscape stands Clingen Castle, a structure with a long history as an administrative seat. Originally a medieval castle, it was transformed into a palace and continues to serve as a central point for local administration.

History+

The origins of Clingen Castle date back to the 13th century, when Prince Heinrich von Hohnstein had a castle built on this site. This early complex served as an official residence and later became part of the domain. In 1356, Clingen, along with Greußen, came into the possession of the Counts of Schwarzburg. The current castle was built in 1576 under Count Günter XL, who commissioned a new construction.
