Coesfeld Castle

The former Liebfrauenburg, now partly used by the city of Coesfeld as an administrative building, was originally a Jesuit college. The complex was built between 1664 and 1666, presumably according to the plans of the master builder Peter Pictorius. From 1803, it was used by the Wild- and Rheingraf, later Prince of Salm-Horstmar, as a castle building.

The street passage was created after the war during the reconstruction of the destroyed building, which then served as the provincial house and monastery of the Sisters of Our Lady.
The adjacent park was opened to the public in 1980; the sisters moved into their new monastery "Annenthal" on Gerlever Weg.

Today, the administrative building "Unserer Lieben Frau" (ULF) houses the staff of the city's departments for Social Affairs and Housing and Youth and Family.
