Near Birnfeld in the district of Schweinfurt stands Craheim Castle, one of Bavaria's youngest castles. It is an example of early 20th-century architecture and now serves as a Christian conference center.

History+

The construction of Craheim Castle took place between 1908 and 1910. The reason for its construction was the marriage of the Royal Prussian Rittmeister Crafft Freiherr Truchsess von und zu Wetzhausen to Clara Erhart, the daughter of a German-American industrialist. Since the old family castle seemed too unfashionable to the bride and she brought the necessary capital, the couple decided on a new building.
