Dallau Castle

Around 1300, a lowland castle was established in Dallau as the residence of the Lords of Heinriet, consisting of a residential tower and a curtain wall. In 1416, the Teutonic Order acquired half of the village and the entire castle. Between 1438 and 1451, the Teutonic Order undertook renovations, during which the current palas with its stepped gable was built, connecting to the old curtain wall. The complex was surrounded by a 20-meter-wide moat, partly double-walled, and equipped with four corner towers and a gatehouse. An outer bailey with farm buildings was accessible via a gate tower. During the Peasants' War in 1525, the castle was captured by insurgents but remained largely undamaged.
