Daubitz Castle (Dubčanski hród)

The origins of the Daubitz knight's estate date back to the first half of the 13th century, when it was established as a manorial seat in a marshy lowland by the White Schöps river during the German eastward settlement. This location favored the construction of a moated castle. In 1381, a member of the noble family von Rackel was first documented as owner, a family that held the estate until 1666. Around 1720, the current two-story baroque castle was built on the cellar walls of a predecessor. The builders were Christian August von Ziegler und Klipphausen and his wife Johanna Charlotte Tugendreich, née von Pentzig. Ownership changed hands several times, including the von Roeder family, Böttcher family, and commercial councilor Christian Friedrich Roscher.
