Deinzendorf Castle

The first documented mention of a lord of the castle, Otte der Waitze von Deunzendorf, dates back to 1306. After 1410, the trace of this family is lost. In 1447, the court came into the possession of the Eyczing family, who resided in Schrattenthal and expanded the property into a castle-like structure in the 16th century. In 1594, Jakob Franz Freiherr von Herberstein acquired the dominion. Wilhelm Graf Oettingen bought the estate in 1669 and had the castle rebuilt. Through inheritance, Deinzendorf passed to the Counts of Schallenberg in 1702 and to the Counts of Auersperg from 1808.
