In the village of Dieskau in Saxony-Anhalt, a late medieval castle emerged from a former moated castle. It is situated on the western edge of the village in the floodplain landscape on the northern bank of the Reide and is surrounded by a castle park, which was laid out from 1778.

History+

The origins of Dieskau Castle date back to the second half of the 15th century, when the first construction phases can be traced on the site of a medieval moated castle. Hieronymus von Dieskau the Younger (1565–1625) is considered the builder of the castle in the late Renaissance style. Extensive renovations and new constructions took place in 1622. The castle owes its current appearance to a further renovation from 1878, which was carried out in the Neo-Renaissance style.
