In the Middle Franconian market town of Dietenhofen in the Ansbach district stands Dietenhofen Castle, once a moated castle.

History+

The origins of the estate date back to the early 13th century, when a residential tower was presumably built. The first documented mention occurred in 1235 in connection with Rüdiger von Dietenhofen. Later, ownership passed to the von Leonrod family. In 1523, when Kunz von Rosenberg was partly the owner, the moated castle was burned down during the Swabian League's feud against robber knights, including Hans Thomas von Absberg.
