Dittersbach Castle is located in Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbach in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in Saxony. It originally emerged from a moated castle.

History+

The first documented mention of the village of Dittersbach occurred in 1299. A manor house at this location is attested for 1350. In 1554, the electoral chancellor Hieronymus Kiesewetter acquired the Dittersbach estate along with surrounding villages. From 1555, he had the current castle built, superseding an older moated castle. After several changes of ownership, the estate came into the possession of Johann Gottlob von Quandt in 1829.
