Divitz Castle

The origins of Divitz Castle date back to the 13th century, during the German Ostkolonisation. The Knights of Divitz were likely the first owners of the castle complex until their lineage died out in the 14th century. After the von Moltke family, the von Vitzen family was named as owner in 1374. From 1480 to 1625, the von Krackewitz family shaped the estate, expanding it in the 16th century and adding the two-story north wing. After the Divitz branch of the Krackewitz family died out, the estate passed to Duke Bogislaw XIV of Pomerania, who leased it to his chancellor Philipp von Horn from 1627 to 1648. Later, the Horns inherited the property and passed it on to Johannes von Lilienstedt, who began converting it into a Baroque residence, adding the east wing between 1729 and 1743. The medieval moat remained intact. Through inheritance, the estate came into the possession of the von Krassow family.
