History+
The origins of Djursholm Castle date back to the early 16th century. Between 1508 and 1520, Nils Eskilsson (Banér) had the castle built, which then remained in the possession of the Banér family for over 300 years, until 1813. It served as the residence for figures such as Privy Councillor Gustaf Banér and later his son, Field Marshal Johan Banér. In the 17th century, under Svante Gustavsson Banér, the castle acquired its current appearance. From 1891 to 1910, the building was temporarily used as a secondary school.
