The origins of Döhlau Castle lie with the knightly noble family of Rabensteiner zu Döhlau. Following the extinction of this line in the mid-17th century, the estate experienced a series of rapid changes in ownership, including the families von Kotzau, Eckersberg, Machwitz, and Falkenstein, before passing into the possession of the von Pühel family.
