Dörflas Castle

From 1569 to 1634, Dörflas Castle was the residence of the von Sparneck family. Hieronymus Ludwig von Sparneck and Weißdorf lived here until shortly before his death in 1634. His daughter Anna Kunigunda was born at the castle in 1621. The family left the castle during the Thirty Years' War and moved to Wunsiedel, but remained owners of the property until 1744. Subsequently, the castle was granted as a fief to the Hagen family. From 1655, it served as an inn with a malting house and brewery, which developed into the largest brewery in the region by the mid-18th century. Between 1780 and 1783, the building was rebuilt by Michael Hermann Theobald Sperl, the son-in-law of the then owner Georg Christoph Hagen.
